DESIGN FOR MEDICAL, HEALTH + WELL BEING

The Imagination Factory is invested in its commitment to innovation, and is the team behind transformative technologies, across multiple sectors for cutting edge brands, including META Materials, Emteq Labs and Vision Engineering.

Using technology with diagnosis

Each team holds over 20 years of experience in industrial design, creative engineering, technology integration and all are fully trained as LUMA human-centred designers. Proud bearers of our B Corporation certification and designers of the Resource Conscious Design model, we provide forward-thinking strategies for planet-conscious businesses around the globe.

The Medical Technology sector has seen advances enabling hospitals to use robotics for medication delivery, as well as equipping surgeons to operate remotely on patients. As a company, we have played a part in a number of exciting and innovative projects and products, some of which include:

Non-Invasive Glucose Monitor - we designed Diabet, for META, for those living with Diabetes and their health practitioners - to transform its daily management. Diabet, most importantly enables 100% pain-free monitoring, whilst equally important, it's thoughtfully designed to fit discreetly into the home environment to improve up take of the device.

The visibility of data through the user-friendly app makes it possible to read results in real-time, without the need to be in possession of the monitor itself; allowing patients, doctors and nurses to share and respond to valuable information in real-time.

Innovative scent diffusing mask for frontline workers - eScent, was the design and engineering of a low-burden mask with suitable protection, which could then be enhanced with the introduction of a personalised aromatherapy dispensing system.

We were privileged to be able to conduct interviews with a range of frontline workers – from paramedic to pharmacist to physio – to establish themes of vulnerability, safety, stress at work, and stress relievers.

Responsive AR glasses for improving mobility with Parkinsons - we teamed up with Emteq Labs to create these responsive AR glasses, using a combination of human-centred design research, technology scouting, AR insights, design & engineering and user testing & evaluations.

With the introduction of a technology in smartglasses, it was possible to detect the onset of freezing of gait in people living with Parkinson’s. In response to the detection of a specific change in movement, lines projected as a holographic image, stimulate the brain to keep the legs moving forward.
